Graduates 2012 of Institute for Fashion Design Basel (16/17):

Julia Föry

Melancholy and the past are combined with the severity, the hopes and the chances of the present.

The setting for Julias graduate collection is the year 1917: the revolution in Russia, the downfall of the Tsarist Empire and the beginning of the communist Soviet Union.

23-year old Julia who has interned in Paris with John Galliano and Bernhard Willhelm plays with contrasts. Rigorous Russian uniforms are combined with the voluminous dresses of the tsar's court. Interpreted and designed for the modern woman Julias designs are feminine, delicate and fairy tale like, but also rigorous, sharp and rough. The main materials are leather and red fox from SwissFur.
