Graduates 2012 of Institute for Fashion Design Basel (14/17):
Marlen Keller
This is one of the most striking visuals from the 17 graduates of Basel's institute for fashion design. No wonder, the pictures are by Amanda Camenisch, one of my favourite young and upcoming photographer from Switzerland.
Marlen Kellers graduate collection is about several individuals that form together one collective: a collection for social lone fighters and eccentricities in a perfect ensemble. It is about opposites that attract each other and are fused into one (and move apart from each other naturally) - sounds all quite abstract to me... But the whole spread of this collction, the clothes and the styling are all looking great.
26-year old Marlen who has interned with Kostas Murkudis in Berlin pays a particular attention to the surface of the fabrics by dyeing, etching and treating her textiles until they get the effect she was looking for.
